Wedding Band Leeds – what to expect
We’re often asked many questions when people are looking to book a Wedding Band in Leeds or the surrounding areas, so we thought it would be useful to provide a little guidance to as to what to expect from any professional band you might be considering to book for your wedding.
Are you available?
Hopefully, the answer will be yes! But be prepared that your chosen Band may already be booked on your date. It is common for people to book their wedding 2 or more years in advance, and this is no different when it comes to booking the band. Obviously, the further away your date, the more likely then and will be available.
Can you play my first dance?
All bands should be able to, unless of course the song or piece of music is not in fitting with the style of band you’re booking.
When do I Pay?
Be expected to pay a deposit when booking – normally around 20% – and to settle the remaining balance within 2-4 weeks of your big day. If going through an agent, you may be paying the agent the deposit and settling up with the Band , so make sure you know who is going to be asking for which part of the payment.
A Contract is a Must
If you’re booking a band, they should always be providing you with a contract. This will provide you with the details of theirs and your obligations. If the band doesn’t want to provide a contract, we’d suggest trying another band
I’ve got the power!
Make sure the band tell you or your venue how much power is needed. Normally when playing in buildings, the power requirement will be a number of 240v plugs close to the playing area. However, if you’re getting married in a marquee, you need to ensure the band provide you with power requirements.
Can I choose the songs?
All wedding bands have their “back catalogue” of songs, including the current regular songs. They’ll create the set lists based on what songs they know are doing well at the time, and will make sure the set lists flow – or they should do. You should be able to request or suggest some of the songs from the back catalogue, but remember that the band is being hired to play the songs they know, not being hired to learn 30 brand new songs
